Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 21, 2026
LI ZEPENG ("we", "us", or "our") operates ClosetLens ("ClosetLens", "the Extension", "we" or "us"), a Google Chrome browser extension and related website at closetlens.app (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By installing or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. What ClosetLens Does
ClosetLens helps online resellers create product listing text. You upload photos of an item, and the Service uses artificial intelligence to generate suggested titles, descriptions, and platform-specific keywords or tags for Poshmark, Depop, and eBay. The Service generates text suggestions only. It does not post, publish, submit, or otherwise automate any action on Poshmark, Depop, eBay, or any other marketplace. You review, copy, and submit every listing yourself. ClosetLens is an independent third-party tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Poshmark, Depop, or eBay.
2. Information We Process
2.1 No account required. ClosetLens has no user accounts, no passwords, and no registration or sign-in. You do not create an account or provide credentials to use the Extension. The free features work without an account and without a payment card, and because there is no account, we hold no account profile, password, or sign-in information about you.
2.2 Product photos and optional item notes. ClosetLens is a pure front-end extension: we do not operate any application server of our own. To generate listings, the photos you select (JPG/PNG/WebP, up to 4 images) and any optional text you enter are sent directly from your browser to the third-party artificial intelligence provider OpenAI, solely to identify item attributes (such as brand, material, color, style, and condition) and to generate the suggested listing text. Those photos and prompts do not pass through, and are never received, relayed, or stored on, any server we control.
- Because photos go directly to OpenAI and we operate no receiving server, we never receive and do not store your original photos, and we cannot access them once the request completes. OpenAI processes the images and prompts under its own retention practices and privacy policy.
- Generated text and detected attributes are shown to you only during your current browser session. We do not maintain a cloud history of your generated listings.
- Photos and generated content are not sold, rented, or used for advertising.
The AI provider processes your images and prompts under its own privacy policy (https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy). Please review it. By using the Service, you understand that your item photos are transmitted to that provider for processing.
2.3 Local usage metering. The free allowance (currently three (3) generations per month) and your usage are counted locally in your own browser via chrome.storage.local. This metering information (such as the number of successful generations and their timestamps) is stored on your device solely to administer the free allowance; it is not transmitted back to us or held on any server we operate, and we do not associate it with the content of your item descriptions. The only exception is if you voluntarily share such details with us in a support email.
2.4 Your own AI API key ("BYOK"). You may choose to use your own OpenAI API key ("Bring Your Own Key"). That key is stored only in your local browser storage (chrome.storage.local). It is never transmitted to us or stored on any server we operate, and you can delete it at any time from the Extension settings. Requests made using your own key go directly between your browser and OpenAI under your own account with OpenAI; usage and charges for those requests are between you and OpenAI.
2.5 Payment information. Paid subscriptions are processed by Creem (Armitage Labs OÜ, registered in Estonia), which acts as the Merchant of Record for your purchase. When you subscribe, your payment details (such as card number) are collected and handled directly by Creem on its checkout pages — we never receive or store your full card number. Creem is an independent data controller for the payment information it processes. See Creem's Privacy Notice: https://www.creem.io/privacy/v1 (verified 2026-09-17; re-verify the current URL at signup). We receive from Creem only the minimum information needed to grant your subscription: subscription status, plan/product identifier, and the customer email associated with the purchase.
2.6 Support data. We do not run analytics or tracking on the Extension and do not automatically collect usage telemetry from it. If you email support@closetlens.app (mailbox hosted by Zoho), we hold the contents of your message and your sender email address for the purpose of replying to you.
2.7 Page data we access in your browser. The Extension reads only the URL of your active tab to detect whether you are on a Poshmark, Depop, or eBay listing page, so it can surface the matching suggestions. It does not read or collect the content of those web pages, and it requests no access to your full browsing history.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to: provide and maintain the Extension and website; enable listing suggestions to be generated through OpenAI; administer the locally counted free allowance; process subscriptions (via Creem) and provide access to paid features; respond to support requests; and comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal Bases (Where Applicable)
For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or similar jurisdictions, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service); our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, and limited service improvement); compliance with legal obligations; and your consent where required by law.
5. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Because the Extension runs entirely on your device and has no account system, the only parties that receive information are:
- OpenAI, our AI generation provider — your photos and prompts are sent directly from your browser to OpenAI (or, in BYOK mode, using your own key and your own OpenAI account). OpenAI processes that information under its own privacy policy, available at https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy;
- Creem (Armitage Labs OÜ) — which collects your payment information directly on its checkout pages and sends us only the subscription status, plan/product identifier, and purchase email needed to activate your plan. Creem acts as an independent data controller for payment information, under its privacy notice at https://www.creem.io/privacy/v1;
- Zoho — which hosts the support mailbox at support@closetlens.app and may process the content of emails you send there; and
- Legal and safety purposes — where required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public.
We do not share your data for third-party advertising.
6. Data Retention
- Original photos: never received or retained by us; they go directly from your browser to OpenAI, whose own retention practices apply.
- Free-allowance usage metering: stored locally in
chrome.storage.localon your device; it is not sent to or retained by us. - BYOK API keys: stored only locally in your browser (
chrome.storage.local) until you delete them in the Extension settings. - Subscription records: we retain the limited subscription information Creem provides (subscription status, plan/product identifier, and purchase email) for as long as the subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterward, subject to records we must keep for legal, tax, or billing purposes; Creem separately retains payment records under its own policies.
- Support correspondence: for as long as reasonably necessary to handle your request and maintain records.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access, correct, or delete your personal data; port your data; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent; and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Because ClosetLens has no accounts, most of your information — your photos, your API key, and your usage count — lives only on your own device and in the hands of the providers described above; you can clear it at any time by deleting your API key in the Extension settings or removing the Extension's local data. For any personal data we do hold (such as subscription information from Creem or support correspondence), you may make access, correction, or deletion requests by emailing support@closetlens.app. We respond within the period required by applicable law.
California residents have the rights provided under the CCPA, including the right to know, request deletion, and opt out of "sales" of personal information. We do not sell personal information as that term is understood under the CCPA.
8. Security
Requests between your browser and OpenAI, and payments handled by Creem, use HTTPS encryption in transit, and your BYOK key remains in your browser's local storage rather than on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Transfers
Your photos and prompts are sent directly from your browser to OpenAI, which may process them in the United States or other countries, and Creem processes payment information (including through its Estonian operations) in countries other than your own. Where required, those providers rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be reflected by a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notified via the Service or email.
